5 Things That Are Causing Blogger Burnout

Every human runs the risk of burnout. However, bloggers i.e. solopreneurs have a much higher risk than the general public. When you run your own business and are self-employed your main goal is to create an income for yourself and your family. When your income depends on you meeting deadlines, it becomes almost impossible if you become burned out.

Here are five reasons for solopreneur burnout:

1. Overburdened

You work from home, so you assume you can handle anything. You accept all job offers that come your way. Soon you find yourself overwhelmed due to being overburdened with work. A work load that is too large will lead you to rush through some jobs, doing subpar work. Not only does your work suffer, but you may even lose a few clients. Slow down and take what you can reasonably handle.

2. Disrespect

Working from home often leads to conflicts within the household unless measures are taken to stop it before it starts. Your family and friends may think that just because you are home you should be at their beck and call. This is disrespectful and needs to be stopped if you intend to get any work done.
You can also show disrespect if you don’t take your job seriously enough and decide it is okay if you take time off to go play a game of golf with your friends.

3. Oversleeping

If you make a habit of sleeping late then you can expect to run into work related issues. Some people figure since they are the boss they can start work whenever they want. While this is basically true, getting a late start on your workday is one of the biggest ways to hit that burnout stage. Why? You will end up in an endless cycle of going to bed late and rising later and later.
The trick is to get a good night’s sleep and rise early in the morning, refreshed and ready to start your work day.
If you have a spouse or family, enlist them to help you get up and moving in the morning.
If you are single, think about leaving the curtains open so that the sun shines on your face and gently wakes you.

4. Late Night Partying

A night life is great, as long as you end the night early enough to get a good night’s sleep. You might be tempted to party into the wee hours of the morning, but this will lead you right into that cycle mentioned above. You need to discipline yourself and save those long nights for the weekend.

5. Forgetting to Switch Off

People who work outside the home may be relaxing at home and remember something they really wanted to get done that day. They can’t do anything about it, so they just chill.

You, working from home, may have the same thought while relaxing after working all day. You could just get up and finish the task because you are at home.

However, you should really set a time limit on your work day. If something comes up after you are done for the day, put it off until tomorrow. Switching off that time clock and enjoying your time off work is something you really have to prioritize.
