How to find the Perfect Work/Life Balance as a Solopreneur
Finding the perfect work life balance as a solopreneur can be a daunting task. There are always going to be obstacles that you must learn to overcome.
“Work-life balance is an important aspect of a healthy work environment.
Maintaining work-life balance helps reduce stress and helps prevent burnout in the workplace.
Chronic stress is one of the most common health issues in the workplace.
It can lead to physical consequences such as hypertension, digestive troubles,
chronic aches and pains and heart problems.
Chronic stress can also negatively impact mental health because
it’s linked to a higher risk of depression, anxiety and insomnia.”

As a solopreneur you are responsible for everything. You design the website, you do the marketing, and you are the accountant. You probably do all this from your comfy home office.
Being the one in charge of your financial situation means you carry a lot of weight on your shoulders. You can’t escape thinking about all you need to accomplish each day.
At the same time you worry about the time, or lack of, that you spend with your family. Are you giving them the needed family time they deserve? Or is work taking over your life?
These questions make it clear that you need to create rules that incorporate your work and life schedules to create the perfect work/life balance.
If your dream is to become a digital entrepreneur, then you need to think about the kind of lifestyle you want before you begin your journey.
You need to consider what kind of work you enjoy and what it is you really want to do, and you need to think about how many hours a day you want work.
You also need to be able to sustain interest in your work, and enjoy what you are doing, if you really want to grow your business.
Here are a few things to consider before you start your journey as a solopreneur:
Know Your Lifestyle
Only you and your family know what you need to accomplish to reach your goals. Work towards achieving these goals. This is ‘lifestyle design’ – a concept where you do ‘no less and no more’ than what you need to do in order to get the job done.
Create a Schedule
Everyone needs to find a balance between work and home life. Create set hours to work and set hours for rest and relaxation. A schedule will make your day flow efficiently and keep you as productive as possible. Why earn money if you never get a chance to enjoy life?
Create Your Office
You may opt to create an office space in your home. If you do so, just remember to make this space for work only. Hopefully your family will respect your office and work hours and leave you in peace.
If you can’t or don’t want to create a home office, or you just need to get out of the house for a while, there is nothing wrong with taking yourself to the library or a local coffee shop to get some work done. Sometimes a change of place can help you focus more on the job at hand.
Outsource
Any work that you don’t enjoy doing, or that you think you cannot handle, should be outsourced to those who can do the job. Don’t be afraid to hire freelancers or staff to help you. Another option is VAS (virtual assistant services) or search for service providers that offer freelancer sites.
Network
Getting out and attending networking events is a great way to meet like-minded people.
Attend those seminars and conferences that will enrich your work life.
Since more and more people are working online these days, it makes attending these events almost vital for success.
Meeting successful people in your field will make you feel successful and will eventually lead to more contacts who may buy into whatever it is you are selling.
Another benefit of attending these events is it gets you away from the office for a while.
