10 Tiny Improvements You Can Make to Yourself Right Now
Everyone wants to be better than what they are. The problem is that everyone wants to act on these thoughts, but often cannot find enough time or energy left at the end of each day to get anything done.
It is hard to start any new endeavor, whether a new job, new business, or new exercise routine. The resistance, disappointments and failures are magnified if you try to accomplish your goals too quickly.
This is why the trick to success in work or life is to start small and build upon each success. Each time you make a change – no matter how big or small – you will be working towards the new and improved you.
Here are 10 tips you can implement into your life right away:
1. Wake Earlier
If you wake to an alarm clock, set it for ten minutes before your normal wake-up time. These ten minutes won’t make much difference to your sleep, but you’d be surprised what you can do with that extra ten minutes of time.
2. Make Your Bed
This simple task will help you increase your willpower and will keep you from going right back to bed. It will also make you feel good to see a made up bed at the end of the day.
3. Drink More Water
Start your day with an 8 ounce glass of water for a quick energy boost. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated will mean you are able to focus better, will have more energy, and won’t suffer the pain of dehydration.
4. Add Omega 3 Fatty Acid
Include as many fatty acids into your diet as you can. Or, supplement your diet with omega 3 fatty acid pills. Not only will you help boost your brain functions, but you will also boost your immunity levels and help fight inflammation.
5. Floss
Everyone remembers to brush their teeth after meals, but most don’t floss. Flossing not only helps to keep your teeth looking whiter, but it also helps prevent tooth decay and may help reduce the risks of certain cancers.
6. Breathe Through Your Nose
Closing your mouth and breathing through your nose is a great way to filter the air and improve your overall oxygen flow. You also look nicer with your mouth closed.
7. Enjoy the Outdoors
Want to sleep better, improve your immune system, regulate your temperature and get a good dose of vitamin D? Step outside and enjoy the sunshine for at least five minutes a day. Take an inside activity outside if you can, and enjoy the great outdoors.
8. Meditate
Meditation is a great way to get a massive amount of health benefits with so little work required. Meditating just five minutes a day will help improve your mood, increase your focus and keep you on a calming path all day long.
9. Do Push Ups
Start with a few and try to work your way up to 20 push ups a day. This is a great way to tone your abs while increasing your overall pushing strength. Daily push ups will also give you a wonder boost of energy to sustain you throughout the day. Push ups are a great beginning exercise for those who want to develop a more intense training program.
10. Reward Yourself
Get a new haircut, or a new suit of clothes. Buy that inspiring painting you want and hang it where you see it every day. Rewarding yourself on occasion is a great way to increase your happiness. Be sure not to overdo the rewards. or they will lose their happiness effect.
If you allow yourself these small changes, you will begin to notice you feel better about yourself and will soon notice other people treating you differently.
