Self Improvement at Work

August 24, 2020 | By juansbet | Filed in: Work From Home.

Self improvement at work is a practical goal, but it applies to other areas of your life as well.

For example, if you decide that you need to lose weight you may spend too much time focusing on the wrong things. It is often the ‘big two’ that people focus on: diet and exercise.

It’s simple, we eat less, exercise more and the pounds will come right off.

However, these plans don’t always produce the results you want. While looking at the big things, you fail to notice the details. Here is where the kaizen approach works by turning small changes into huge rewards.

The Reason Most Workouts Fail

Most people work out a few times a week, maybe for an hour each time. If you spend three days working out for 60 minutes at a time, you end up working out for 180 minutes per week. Are you aware there are 10,080 minutes in every week? You exercise for a very minute portion of those minutes.

Look at Others Areas

If the weight is not coming off as fast as you wished it would, maybe you need to look at others areas of your life to see where you are not active. Do you drive to and from work each day? Do you then sit at your computer for most of the work day? Do you come home after work, or workouts, and chill on the couch for the rest of the night?

Whatever it is you are doing, it means your are not moving much throughout the day. You can not keep your metabolism up and burn calories if you are not moving.

This is why adding long workouts and bland foods are not going to work as efficient weight loss measures. The rest of your time is basically spent doing nothing that gets your heart pumped and your metabolism to where it needs to be.

The kaizen approach will help you achieve your weight loss goals so much faster than longer workouts. Why? Because with the kaizen approach you focus on the small things. Instead of driving to and from work, walk if you can. These minutes can add up in a week while you give yourself a good cardiovascular workout.

Try This Option

Another small thing you can change in your daily routine is to take the stairs instead of the elevator. You would be amazed to learn you can burn a lot of calories just by walking up and down stairs all week.

A nightly walk with the family, or with the dog, is another great way to get in exercise without spending hours of time and sweat doing so. Walking anywhere is always a great way to lose weight.

Avoid Burn Out

You may not see immediate results using the kaizen approach, but you won’t get burned out as you would with a regular exercise routine at your local gym. It is the small changes you make each day that will have a cumulative effect on your health and your life. This is the way to transform your body – one small step at a time.
