When Selecting a Target Market…
Most people assume that simply by having a large audience they are assured of selecting a target market that will produce favorable results. But they are missing the opportunity to zero in on what a specific target audience is searching for.
Therefore they miss the opportunity to build a popular and successful brand.
Having a large random audience may provide you inflated vanity metrics, by it is unlikely to produce the results you want.
With such a broad audience, you are not appealing to anyone. In fact, you may be appealing to no one just because you are not catering to a specific group.
Here are some things you need to consider when it comes to finding your target audience:
1. Who is YOUR Target Audience?
You need to know where your target audience lives and works. You need to know their age and gender and what their family and life structures are.
These can usually be found in profiles on various social media sites, or by engaging in meaningful dialog with people.
Learning all you can about your target audience is the way to quickly build your brand. When you understand your audience well enough you should be able to narrow it down to individual people.
2. Look Beneath the Surface
Once you have chosen your audience demographically, you need to psychologically examine them as well.
Understanding what they need, want, value, and believe in will help you get their attention. Once you have hooked them you need to dig deeper to target them.
3. Learn Their Social Media Habits
Those sites that your intended audience frequents are the same places where you should be placing your brand.
Making people aware of your brand is the only way you will grow. Once you understand their media habits, you can easily place your brand where they will see it and interact with you.
4. Creating the Content They Want
Now that you know where to find your potential audience, you need to start creating content that they will want to see.
You have to go beyond simple postings and create content that highlights your brand and engages your audience enough that they want to know more about you and your specific business.
If you fail to properly define your audience your brand will not be as successful as you would like. Without these key followers, your brand will never grow.
Therefore you need to spend time gathering the answers you need before reaching out to your target audience.
In order for your personal brand to grow, you need to understand your target audience and they need to understand you and your brand.
Why This Works
Of course, there are no guarantees, but when you are able to describe a specific person in the audience you are targeting, the majority if not all the people who fit that description will feel that you are speaking directly to them!
In fact, their first reaction will be wondering how you know so much about them, how you discovered their most intimate longings.
When you reach this point, you have a powerful connection with your audience. Their trust in you increases many fold.
That’s the power successfully targeting your audience.
